The kakapo parrot family is from New Zealand, was famous for being the heaviest parrot only flightless parrot, and the only parrot that has a breeding system in which single mother raising chicks.  

The ancestors of kakapo were in the territory they are today the islands of New Zealand. Because of the absence of land predators, they lost the ability to fly. mostly diurnal predator was a giant eagle, which he took refuge in the vegetation.

kakapo population in New Zealand has been significantly reduced following human colonization of the country.

Between 1999 and 2005 the adult population grew from 62-86 copies and in 2009 the population reached 124 individuals
